QUESTIONS & ANSWERS
Annual testing is recommended to ensure the continued safety and reliability of tripod and axle jacks. Over time, these components can experience wear and tear, leading to decreased performance or even failure.
Regular testing helps identify potential issues early on, allowing necessary repairs or maintenance to be performed before they become more serious. Additionally, annual testing can help verify that the jacks still meet the required safety standards for their intended use.
While the load tester itself has a working capacity of 35 tons (70,000 lbs.), the load cell (the device that measures the weight or force applied) and the display (which shows the measurement results) are both capable of accurately measuring and handling forces up to 200,000 lbs. (100 tons).
The working height – or maximum height at which the proof load tester can effectively test jacks – is just over 7 ft. (2.1 m). This measurement refers to the distance from the ground to the load cell or testing point where the jack interacts with the tester.
This unit has eight adjustable height points, with the four lower points being half the distance apart from the upper four points.
The adjustable height points allow the operator to set the proper testing height for the jack, ensuring the ram of the jack being tested is aligned correctly with the load cell. This is crucial for accurately testing both tripod and axle jacks.
To adjust the height, remove the lynch pins and adjustment pins from all three legs, set the desired height, and then reinstall the adjustment pins and lynch pins. Forklift pockets are integrated into the upper bridge to support the load during adjustment.
No, this unit is specifically designed for testing tripod and axle jacks.
Tronair recommends calibrating the load cell, cable, and digital load indicator as a complete unit annually, or as local directives apply.
Like all Tronair products, the Portable Tripod Jack Proof Load Tester is warranted to be free of manufacturing or material defects for one year after shipment to the original customer.
This warranty is solely limited to the repair or replacement of defective components and does not cover parts required for normal maintenance or parts covered by a component manufacturer’s warranty.
The main structure of this portable load tester is made of steel for exceptional durability.
